The original house was of kitset construction consisting of a steel frame and truss roof with an asbestos/cork sandwich panel cladding. The original asbestos roof was showing strong signs of decay. Not long after the original construction mid 60’s, a brick veneer was added.
The orientation of the house on its site neglected the stunning sea views that were available.
The house was stripped of its cladding and roof, extended both ends, insulated, new architectural series double glazed aluminium joinery was installed, new kitchen and bathrooms were fitted. Three new hardwood timber decks were constructed to give sheltered areas regardless of wind direction.
The whole project started because the garage needed replacement….
